A 1 or 2 hour session with your therapist goes by very quickly. However, although that session won't cure all your ills, preparing for the massage can help you maximize the benefits of this experience. Here are some tips for your next session:

Before the massage

Stay hydrated

Staying well hydrated before the massage is important so that, during the treatment, toxins are better eliminated.

-      Drink plenty of water

-      Do not drink alcohol

-      Drink a cup of tea

-      Avoid large amounts of caffeine

Eat lightly

If your stomach making noise during digestion will make you uncomfortable, we recommend you eat at least 1 hour before the massage or, if you think you'll get hungry, eat a digestible fruit.

Prepare your body

If you can take a hot shower before the massage, you will help your muscles relax. You will need to shower again after the massage to remove the excess oil, but it will be worth it.

Also, you can do these little stretches:

1.      Stand up and stretch your hands upward. Hold for 5 seconds.

2.     With your legs straight, try to touch your toes. Hold for 5 seconds.

3.    In this position, gently swing your arms to the left and to the right.

Dress comfortably

Since you will be at home, wear something comfortable that is easy to take off and put on, and do not wear jewelry.

We recommend wearing sandals that you can easily wash afterward and during the massage, leaving them by the massage table, so you can put them on as soon as the massage is over to avoid slipping.

When the therapist arrives

The therapist will arrive with a fully disinfected massage table, clean sheets, oils, and relaxing music.

Indicate where you want the massage table set up, and while they do this, let them know...

-      If you have epilepsy, allergies, or injuries they should be aware of.

-      If you want relaxing music or not.

-      If you have any preference regarding the intensity of the massage.

-      If there is any area of your body where you want them to pay special attention.

-      If there is any area of your body with increased sensitivity or that should be avoided.

-      Any questions regarding the type of massage chosen.

During the massage

Focus on your breathing, trying to take deep breaths.

Relax. Your therapist will know how to lift your arms or your head. They don’t need your help.

Let your mind go and enjoy.

Tell the therapist if:

-      You feel cold or hot.

-      If you want more or less pressure.

-      If you want the volume of the music to be raised or lowered.

-      If you want them to work on another area already.

It’s your massage, you decide.

After the massage

Wear sandals

First of all, we recommend you put on sandals to avoid slipping on the oil.

Again, stay hydrated

A massage promotes blood circulation and toxin elimination. For this reason, it is important that you continue hydrating your body with water. Caffeine can wait.

Sore? Put on some ice

Depending on the type of massage chosen and the tension in your muscles, you may feel a bit of temporary pain after the massage and even slight swelling. In that case, we recommend a cold shower or applying cold compresses for 10-15 minutes. Avoid hot baths.

If you have any questions regarding what to expect from the massage, your therapist from Zen to Go will be happy to help you.
